Whittier Kids’ Summer Camp: Enrollment Open Now

PNA Whittier Kids (WK) Summer Camp offers weekly camps for kids PreK – 5th grade. A typical day at a WK camp may include team projects, free choice stations, outside and/or gym play, a special assembly, and hearty snacks. We strive to provide a safe, inclusive, and fun space where all kids feel welcome and valued.

WK is located onsite at Whittier Elementary School, 1320 NW 75th Street, Seattle 98117. All kids entering K – 5th grade in the Fall are welcome! Enrollment in camp is not limited to Whittier Elementary students. Preschoolers must be 3.5 years old and independent bathroom users before their first camp session.

 For Summer 2025 we are offering ten sessions of camps: June 23rd – August 29th. Camp core hours are 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, with optional extended care until 6:00 pm.

Whittier Kids is licensed and monitored through the Department of Children, Youth and Families and voluntarily participates in School’s Out Washington’s program quality initiative. Decisions regarding curriculum goals and staff practices are guided by program assessment tools, as well as PNA’s mission and values.

 

Summer Camp Highlights

Kid-approved weekly themes are the basis of group and individual projects. These activities support our curriculum goals: promoting social, leadership, and team-building skills. WK campers will team up to host a Ren Faire, hold craft fairs, put on talent shows, and compete in silly sporting events.

Each camp session includes active play time in the school playcourt and at a local park. Weekly assemblies may include presentations and/or performances from special guests.

 

Free choice station time is built into the daily schedule. Age-appropriate games ranging from Candy Land to D&D, art materials, pretend play props, sports equipment, books, and building manipulatives are all accessible during station time. Station materials are rotated frequently based on our campers’ interests and engagement.

Optional extended care is offered until 6:00 pm. Families can register for extended care by the week. There is an add-on option for adding extended care for every weekly session. Extended care is a fun mixture of outdoor activities, stations, and skill-building activities.

2025 Summer Schedule

Families may choose from ten sessions of camps offered June 23rd – August 29th. Camp core hours are 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, with optional extended care until 6:00 pm.

Mini Week: June 23 – 27

Good times come through ‘small’ activities including onsite mini-golf, tiny sculpting, and cooking mini treats.

Speedy Skills and Brain Buster Challenges: June 30 – July 2 (WK is closed July 3-4)

Sharpen your skills and discover hidden talents. Everyone is a winner during three days of quick and silly competitions.

Character Con: July 7 – 11

Celebrate pop culture through role-playing your favorite characters from Sci-Fi, comics, Disney, sports mascots, D&D…… all are welcome at WK’s week-long convention!

Printmaking: July 14 – 18

Explore the scope of printmaking on both paper and fabric using stamps, stencils, and more!

Ren Faire: July 21 – 25

Huzza! Calling all princesses, pirates, jesters, and joust masters to plan and present our first ever Renaissance Faire.

Chain Reaction: July 28 – August 1

Build gadgets and gizmos aplenty at WK’s week of Rube Goldberg-inspired machines! From domino mazes to zany contraptions, we’ll get creative with the laws of force and energy.

Sculptures, dioramas, and bits of history — we’ll put it all on display right here at the Whittier Kids Museum!

Camp Classics: Aug 11 – 15

We welcome you to Whittier Kids, we’re mighty glad you’re here! Get a taste of old-fashioned sleepaway camp with stories around the “campfire,” tried and true crafts, and plenty of fun in the sun.

Biz Wiz: Aug 18 – 22

Back by popular demand! Team up to create a product or service from the ground up. Meet up with other teams on Market Day to buy, sell, or trade each other’s products.

It's a Jungle in Here: Aug 25 – 29

Put on your binoculars and get ready to learn about jungle animals through stories, music, and art! We’ll get creative and practice literacy and math skills.  This camp session is for PreK-2nd Grade only.

Whittier Kids Preschool is a mixed-aged, play-oriented preschool program at Whittier Elementary for 3-5 year olds. We use play as a natural teaching tool to make learning fun and relevant for our community of young learners.

Whittier Kids School Age Program offers after school and school break childcare on-site at Whittier Elementary for Whittier students. Through child-centered experiential learning and play, we bolster education, promote new ways of learning, and allow kids to develop social skills in a safe environment.
