About Room Rentals
There are two locations available for rental: the Phinney Center and the Greenwood Senior Center.
Phinney Center
The Phinney Center campus includes two historic school buildings: the Blue Building (1904) and the Brick Building (1917). Rooms are available for hourly rentals in both buildings. Both buildings are ADA-accessible with an elevator.

Greenwood Senior Center
The Greenwood Senior Center has a large meeting/event space with a stage and piano available for weeknight and weekend rental as well as a meeting room on the lower flower. Both floors of the Greenwood Senior Center are ADA-accessible with a lift.

Resources for Renters
Our rental spaces are shared spaces. As you use our buildings for your own programs and events, please be mindful of those who are around you and those who come after you. Our staff at the front desk of the Phinney Center Blue Building are available to assist you with any questions or issues you may have. They can be reached at 206-783-2244.

Rental period
Your rental period includes time for set up and clean up. You may not enter the rental space until the start time stated in your Rental Agreement, and you must clean up the room by the end time.
We rent rooms out for a minimum of one hour and then by the quarter hour.
Rental payment
Rent is due at the time of booking or as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Payments may be made by check or credit card.
Checks should be made payable to “PNA”, and the rental dates/room # noted in the memo line, and delivered to PNA front desk.

Insurance
Insurance is required for movement-based activities, anything involving children, and all events with alcohol.
Insurance can be obtained through the renter’s own insurance or Event Helper.
Parking
Daily parking is free, but sometimes limited.
Please use on-site parking lots whenever possible and leave street parking for neighborhood residents. Inform your group members of the parking policy.
Phinney Center
Parking lots are adjacent to the Blue Building (upper lot) and Brick Building (lower lot) and accessed from N. 67th Street.
Greenwood Senior Center
Parking lot is behind the GSC and accessed from N 85th Street.
Kitchen
There is a small kitchen on the top floor of the Blue Building at Phinney Center available for rental for a nominal fee. The kitchen is not licensed for commercial use. Renters may use the stove/oven to reheat and stage already-prepared food. Renter must wash, dry, and return all items to cabinets and drawers, wipe down countertops, remove any leftover items from refrigerator/freezer and counters, and take garbage/recycling/compost to dumpsters in parking lots.
ADA accessibility
Both buildings at Phinney Center and the GSC are ADA accessible with an elevator.
Wifi
Check-in
At Phinney Center, please check in with our front desk staff in the Blue Building prior to the start of your rental period. They can assist you with any questions you might have.
For the Greenwood Senior Center, renters may need to connect with the GSC Office manager in advance of their rental to schedule a meeting to learn about how to access the space after regular GSC operating hours.
Check-out
Renters are responsible for cleaning up at the end of their event/activity within their rental time period. Please refer to check-out procedures posted in each room.
Generally, clean up involves:
- Returning tables and chairs to rolling carts
- Remove signs & decorations used for the event/activity
- Spot clean, sweep floors
- Empty trash, recycling & compost bins and take to the appropriate dumpsters in the parking lot
- Close windows and blinds
- Turn off fans, air purifier, lights and close the door

Food/alcohol
You can bring in food and non-alcoholic beverages for your meetings and classes. We ask that you take food garbage out to our dumpster (bags provided), spot clean spills on the floor and furniture, and sweep or vacuum if needed. Ask the front desk for cleaning supplies.
You may serve alcohol to adults of legal drinking age (no kegs) as long as you arrange it with the Rentals Team in advance: renter must obtain a Banquet Permit or Special Occasion License from the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board and Event Liability Insurance and share with our Rentals Team no later than 5 business days prior to event. Contact the Rentals Team for more information.
Garbage/recycling/compost
Each room has receptacles for garbage, recycling, and compost. We ask that you separate your waste accordingly and dispose of it in the labeled bins in our parking lots.
Tables and chairs
Sound system
At the Phinney Center, renters need to bring their own music equipment. The exceptions are Room 7 and Community Hall which have simple sound systems suitable for a single mic or background music. PNA staff are not available to provide tech support during your event, but you can set up a time in advance of your event to go over PNA sound systems.

Pets
Marketing/promotion of your class or event
Posting signs on the property during your event is allowed by prior permission only. Signs (and any tape) must be removed from both the interior and exterior of the building at the end of your rental. Use gaffers tape only.
Prior to your event/class, renters can bring flyers to our front desk for approval to be posted in our public areas.
Renters have the option of purchasing a display ad in our quarterly newspaper, The Review.
For social media, feel free to tag @PhinneyNeighborhoodAssociation in your own posts as the location if taking place at the Phinney Center, or @greenwoodseniorcenter if Greenwood Senior Center is the location.
Renters are also encouraged to submit events on the neighborhood blog, PhinneyWood.com, as well as send a press release or blurb to moc.d1732301637oowye1732301637nnihp1732301637@spit1732301637.
Decorations
- Gaffers tape is acceptable for lightweight decorations. Decorations (and any tape) must be removed from both the interior and exterior of the building at the end of your rental.
- Confetti is allowed, but must be thoroughly swept up. No glitter is allowed, either loose or glued to decorations.
- No tacks, nails, screws, glue, etc. into the walls, woodwork, chalkboards or ceiling.
- No alterations of any kind to the existing structure (stage, lights, etc.) are allowed.
- No candles, incense or smudge, dry ice, or open flame of any kind may be used. You can use LED candles.
- Nothing may be hung from the light fixtures, sprinkler system, or pipes.
AC/Heat
The Phinney Center does not have air conditioning. All rooms have windows that can be opened for air flow. Fans can be provided upon request. Contact the PNA front desk staff if you need assistance.
Rooms at the Phinney Center and GSC are heated in advance of occupancy.
The GSC has air conditioning in the Greenwood Room.
Inclement weather policy
PNA may choose to close our Phinney Center and the Greenwood Senior Center sites due to inclement weather or other factors affecting the health/safety of our renters and their guests. If we close our sites, we will reimburse 100% of the rental fee for the lost date or we can credit the rental fee and reschedule your class or meeting for a later date.
If we keep our sites open but a renter cancels due to weather, we require that the renter pay 50% of the rent for the day even if the renter reschedules.

To cancel a reserved date (or series), submit an email request to the PNA rentals team to cancel. Allow two weeks to receive a refund. If PNA cancels a rental, PNA will refund all fees unless said cancellation was due to misuse of the facility and/or failure to conform to our Rental Policies (as outlined in the Rental Agreement).
Campus policies
Alcohol, smoking and vaping are prohibited.
Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Children cannot be unaccompanied in buildings, playgrounds or parking lots.
PNA is not responsible for items lost or stolen at our sites. Ask for Lost & Found at the Blue Building reception desk.
Abusive harassing behavior is not acceptable. No sexist, racist, discriminatory language or behavior.

2024 PNA event & closure dates
PNA hosts and runs a number of events throughout the year, which may affect room and parking availability. Visit our events page for details. The main events impacting usage of the blue building are: April 26-27 (PNA Auction), November 2 (Dia de los Muertos), December 6-8 (PNA Winter Festival).
PNA is closed on the following dates: January 1, January 15, February 19, May 27, June 19, July 4, September 2, November 28-29, December 23-31, 2024.
